Larger facilities produce a lot of excess heat. This heat can be put to use instead of being wasted into the atmosphere. With a heat exchanger water can be heated and used either for central heating and or a source of running hot water. This technology can completely remove the need for a separate water boiler. With larger freezers systems IMA has replaced underfloor electric heating mats with an underfloor liquid versions that uses the exchanged heat.

In other facilities IMA has used the excess heat to ripening mangos. All this represent a significant and real saving in energy bills.
